4.2.4.6 — Eccentric and Inclined Loads

(1) Where there is eccentricity or inclination of loading in foundation units, this effect shall be fully investigated and provided for in the design.

means a system or arrangement of foundation units through which the loads from a building are transferred to supporting soil or rock.

foundation unit

means one of the structural members of the foundation of a building, such as a footing, raft and pile.
