7.2.5.13 — Polyethylene/Aluminum/Polyethylene Composite Pipe and Fittings

(1) PE/AL/PE composite pipe and fittings used for potable water systems shall conform to CSA B137.9, “Polyethylene/Aluminum/Polyethylene (PE-AL-PE) Composite Pressure-Pipe Systems”.
(2) Except as provided in Sentences (3) and (4), PE/AL/PE pipe and fittings shall not be used in a hot water system.
(3) PE/AL/PE pipe with a pressure rating of 690 kPa or greater at 82ºC shall be permitted in a hot water system.
(4) PE/AL/PE pipe with a pressure rating of 690 kPa or greater at 82ºC shall be used with fittings that conform to CSA B137.10, “Crosslinked Polyethylene/Aluminum/Crosslinked Polyethylene (PEX-AL-PEX) Composite Pressure-Pipe Systems”, in a hot water system.
