9.10.19.2 — Sound Patterns of Smoke Alarms

(1) The sound patterns of smoke alarms shall,

(a) meet the temporal patterns of alarm signals, or

(b) be a combination of temporal pattern and voice relay.

Defined terms on this page

alarm signal

means an audible signal transmitted throughout one or more zones of a building or throughout a building to advise occupants that a fire emergency exists.

smoke alarm

means a combined smoke detector and audible alarm device designed to sound an alarm within the room or suite in which it is located on the detection of smoke within that room or suite.
